These days the term “The Matrix” has come to mean “The System” – whichever system that may be, stemming from the 1999 Wachowski Brothers’ seminal film of the same name – “The Matrix

Wikipedia says:

The film depicts a future in which reality as perceived by most humans is actually a simulated reality created by sentient machines to pacify and subdue the human population, while their bodies’ heat and electrical activity are used as an energy source. Upon learning this, computer programmer “Neo” is drawn into a rebellion against the machines, involving other people who have been freed from the “dream world” and into reality.

The film has much significance and meaning on many levels, and has probably left as much of a legacy of quotes and meaning as any science fiction film, ever. We intend to expand this part of the site slowly, giving in-depth analysis of the many aspects of the film over time.
