The Real American Sheeple Quiz? – Or Tinfoil Hat Brigade?

Sheeple Quiz

On the 4th May after intensive psychological studies on multiple Sheeple and careful reverse-engineering of their views, followed by days of field trials of the quiz on pre-selected individuals to assess results, we released:

The Red Pill (possibly but not necessarily American)  Sheeple Quiz

The quiz received a lot of interest one way and another, and of course others have seen it and quickly copied the idea as their own, which was expected, and although in general we applaud and support efforts to get through to the people who are not terminal Sheeple, and thus can possibly still be helped..

There is however another “Sheeple Quiz” (re) written on 16th May that has been replicated all round the internet which could be more accurately be described as a “Tinfoil-Hat Sheeple Quiz”, and which we believe will damage the “awareness” cause with overt “Conspiracy Theorist” propaganda, and so we want to distance ourselves from that and talk a little about the aim of Red-Pill.org and what we mean by “Sheeple” because the definition is NOT the same as the results from the “TinFoil Hat Quiz”.

The Red Pill is focused on Conspiracy Fact, not “Conspiracy Theories”.

Conspiracies – Theory & Facts

con·spir·a·cy/kənˈspirəsē/Noun
1. A secret plan by a group to do something unlawful or harmful.
2. The action of plotting or conspiring.

con·spir·a·cy the·o·ry /Noun
1. A theory seeking to explain a disputed case or matter as a plot by a secret group or alliance rather than an individual or isolated act.
2. A belief that some covert but influential organization is responsible for an unexplained event or most usually many such events.

Facts about real conspiracies

1. Every successful court case prosecution for any kind of “Conspiracy to..” charge originally started it’s life as someone’s “conspiracy theory”
2. Every premeditated crime committed by more than one person was a conspiracy at one point prior to the crime being committed.

Facts about conspiracy theories

1. There are LOTS of them.
2. Not all of them are in fact, actual Conspiracies.

Hence one can see that there is a fine line between between what is a genuine conspiracy, and what is just the latest cause for those at the far limits of credibility to rant about this week and;

The thin line is defined by proof.

Although one cannot rule out a current theory being proved at some future point, that does not mean that people who do not automatically jump onboard with every crank’s latest ramblings are necessarily”Sheeple” by any means, and in lots of cases may be far more grounded and rational than their tinfoil hatted accusers.

We therefore assert that any quiz with a series of questions with only two possible answers, one on the conspiracy side of things (the intended “correct” answer) and one more standard response is no use whatsoever in profiling a wide range of people and personalities.

Basically, the Tinfoil hat sheeple quiz is calling you sheep-like if you don’t believe in every wacko theory out there, and that is just not the case.

Sheeple are defined by characteristics, not individual beliefs

It is of course entirely possible to be misinformed on specific issues, or maybe even to have better information on the subject, and hence disagree with any number of the crackpot theories doing the rounds, without being Sheeple.  Hence any test that demands that you see eye to eye with the quiz writer on every issue is by definition, invalid because there are Sheeple on both sides of the conspiracy theory fence .

The characteristics exhibited by genuine Sheeple, however are always the same.

  1. Belief without questioning.
  2. Inherent trust of “authority” in general.
  3. Unwillingness to listen to arguments that oppose their views.
  4. Not caring about the bigger picture as long as they are OK.

These traits are all there in a greater or lesser extent depending on the individual.
